First Heartis Senior Community to be Built in San Antonio

Healthcare real estate firm Caddis to start work on a 101-unit assisted living and memory care community, set to open in second quarter of 2016

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 21, 2014 – Although amenity-filled senior communities under the Heartis brand name are being built and have opened in a number of Texas cities, residents will soon see the first one in San Antonio.  Construction is set to begin soon on the 86,000 square foot Heartis San Antonio assisted living and memory care community, with a planned completion in the second quarter of 2016.

Heartis San Antonio, which will be located at 15430 Huebner Road just southwest of Churchill Estates Blvd., will include a choice of 77 assisted living units and 24 memory care units. The community is being developed and will be owned by national healthcare real estate firm Caddis Partners LLC and managed by Frontier Management, a senior living operations management company headquartered in Portland, Ore.

Heartis San Antonio is being built on a 3.6-acre site on the highly visible, accessible Huebner Road. It will be surrounded by well-established neighborhoods such as Churchill Estates, sought-after enclave cities such as Shavano Park and Hill Country Village and will be only a short drive away from communities such as Stone Oak and Alamo Heights.

Heartis San Antonio is the first of three communities currently under development in Texas that will be managed by Frontier Management, with a second about to begin construction in Central Texas and a third under development in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Heartis San Antonio will offer a host of amenities and special features, including two interior courtyards; multiple activity areas; a large fitness center; daily specialized programming; delicious chef-prepared meals; 24-hour licensed nursing services; beautifully landscaped grounds; housekeeping and laundry services; personal transportation; assistance with the activities of daily living; and high quality Class A finishes, all delivered in a warm, nurturing environment.  The architecture of the new community will be designed to emulate the historic San Antonio mission style with a barrel tile roof and an architectural stone and stucco façade.

The architect for the Heartis community is Austin, Texas-based Katus LLC and the general contractor is Cameron, Texas-based EBCO General Contractor Ltd. Construction debt financing is being provided by American Momentum Bank.

The brand name plays off the saying, “Home is where the heart is” and the Heartis logo also includes periods after the words “Seniors” and “Living” to convey that in the new communities, seniors will be living rich, full lives.
