Heartis Amarillo Construction Begins

Healthcare real estate firm Caddis Partners starts work on 89-unit assisted living and memory care center, set to open in fall 2014

Nov. 12, 2013 AMARILLO, Texas,  – Construction has begun on the 89-unit, 63,094 square foot Heartis Amarillo, an assisted living and memory care community, on Research St. north of Wallace Blvd. in Amarillo.

Heartis Amarillo will feature 54 assisted living suites; a dedicated 35-bed memory care unit with an innovative “Main Street” streetscape including a theater, ‘50s-style diner, arts and crafts shop, and garage; three interior courtyards, including one dedicated to memory care; daily specialized programming; 24-hour licensed caregivers; a wide variety of amenities; and high quality Class A finishes – all delivered in a warm, nurturing, home-like environment.

The community is being developed and will be owned by healthcare real estate firm Caddis Partners, LLC and managed by Eugene, Ore.-based Good Neighbor Care, which has a long history of managing seniors communities across the country.

“The design of the memory care neighborhood will help support the unique therapeutic approach we provide our residents,” says Tammy Mann, an RN and Senior Operations Specialist with Good Neighbor Care. “The community will include many innovative features, including a beautiful interior ‘Main Street’ that allows residents to feel more comfortable in a familiar environment that encourages them to connect with their surroundings, other residents, staff and visitors. This will be the only senior community in the area featuring a memory care Main Street.”

The community will be located on a 4.59-acre site adjacent to the Coffee Memorial Blood Center, less than a mile from the 426-bed Northwest Texas Hospital and the 406-bed Baptist St. Anthony’s hospital and just south of Texas Tech University Health Science Center’s Amarillo Campus.

The architect for Heartis Amarillo is Austin, Texas-based KATUS and the general contractor is MAPP Construction. Financing is being provided by Amegy Bank. The community is expected to be completed in the fall of 2014.

Caddis Partners recently announced its expansion into the senior living segment and the launch of the new name Heartis, which plays off the saying, “Home is where the heart is.” The Heartis logo also includes periods after the words “Seniors” and “Living” to convey that in the new communities, seniors will be living rich, full lives. Caddis also recently began developing senior communities in other Texas cities, including Heartis Cleburne south of Fort Worth and Heartis Eagle Mountain on the north side of Fort Worth near Eagle Mountain Lake.
